Enhancing spaces through light.
About Todd
I started my electrical apprenticeship at 20 and have spent every year since working on high-end residential projects. From the very beginning, the work I was trusted with was a certain kind: private homes for clients who cared deeply about the spaces they lived in and expected every detail to be completed to the highest standard. That expectation has never changed.
Throughout my career, I've worked with a wide range of exceptional clients - including families, musicians, footballers, and public figures on homes where the quality of the workmanship simply had to be right. Those experiences shaped the way I approach every project, regardless of its size or budget.

Why Garden Lighting

I founded Todd Roberts Lighting in 2021. Before focusing on gardens, I spent years working with interior lighting and automation systems - specifically on joinery lighting, where the challenge was to integrate light into furniture and architectural features in a way that felt like a single, cohesive environment rather than a collection of individual elements.
That thinking transferred naturally to gardens. The same principle applies: light shouldn't be something you notice in isolation. It should be something that changes how a whole space feels.
Gardens are a huge and often underserved market. There are many people who can wire a light fitting outdoors but very few who approach it as a design discipline. I love being outside. I always have. And I became increasingly aware of how many garden lighting schemes simply don't look or feel right - bright in the wrong places, flat where they should have depth, with no real thought given to how a client would actually use the space after dark.

How I Work
Working alongside garden designers, I transform approved landscape renders into after-dark visuals that reveal how a garden will look once the lighting is installed.
Before a single cable is laid, you'll see exactly how your garden will come to life after sunset. Every focal point illuminated, every layer carefully considered, and every scene thoughtfully visualised. That clarity matters.

Every project I take on is specified with a lighting control system as standard. Not as an add-on, but as a fundamental part of the design. The goal is to give clients genuine flexibility over their garden after dark - different atmospheres for different occasions, controlled simply and intuitively. Luxury technology should never feel complicated. It should disappear, and leave you with nothing but the experience.
My broader mission is simple: to break down the barrier between indoor and outdoor living. Gardens shouldn't go dark at sunset. They should come alive.

Work with someone who cares as much about your garden as you do.
Every enquiry is reviewed personally. We work with a select number of clients each year to ensure every project receives the attention it deserves.
